Fireside Chat with Sarah Hurwitz (HLS '08)

Thursday, October 9, 2025
6 - 9 PM EDT

Zoom fireside chat

The Harvard Law School Association Jewish Alumni Network is excited to invite you to our upcoming fireside chat with Sarah Hurwitz on Thursday, October 9th, at 6:00 PM PT / 9:00 PM ET via Zoom.

Sarah Hurwitz (HLS '08) served as senior speechwriter for President Barack Obama and head speechwriter for First Lady Michelle Obama. After leaving the White House, she embarked on a profound journey of Jewish learning that led to two remarkable books:

  1. Here All Along: Finding Meaning, Spirituality, and a Deeper Connection to Life – In Judaism (After Finally Choosing to Look There) – a beautiful exploration of Judaism's wisdom and relevance and
  2. As A Jew: Reclaiming Our Story From Those Who Shame, Blame, and Try to Erase Us – her timely new work addressing how antisemitism has shaped Jewish identity and how Jews can reclaim our tradition

As A Jew has received extraordinary acclaim. Susan Cain called it "the most important book I've read this year." Yossi Klein Halevi declared, "The American Jewish awakening is upon us, and Sarah Hurwitz is its prophet." And Dara Horn urged, "If you want to understand the situation American Jews find themselves in right now, stop whatever you're doing and read this book."

We are incredibly fortunate to host this conversation with such an insightful and impactful Jewish voice.  Please join us!
